Makes GoPro worthless

Having to log in to an account to connect to my GoPro is terrible. Was on a paid shoot this week and could not connect to my GoPro the entire time. Had to use it "blind" on action shots. Unbelievable and unacceptable. We HAVE to be able to connect to our cameras quickly, without such nonsense. Time to find a different camera. GoPro just ruined their product! Stupid fools!

Horrible, Worst App. Dont update

I was out in the woods and couldnt use. You must create an account and login. Why do i need to login just to view my videos on my camera? I am selling my GoPro camera on craigslist, i will never buy a GoPro again unless they remove the stupid login. I wish there was a concerted effort by consumers to punish companies that dont respect our privacy. Stop buying GoPro cameras!!!

Good App

Im tired of having to log in to this app. Also can you have photos of the day open in app rather than a web page, Im not fond of being diverted.

Still not happy with app

Ive had my Hero3+ for several years. I wanted the app to help setup camera shots with the viewer. Nothing else. The app used to just do that. Now they want a login so you can use their editing tools and cloud storage. Guess what, I dont need those features and Im sure 95% of the rest of owners dont need it either. I wish I didnt update to this version and now I cant go back. Thanks for screwing up a good thing GoPro.

WE DO NOT NEED LOGIN!!

Simply i want to use this OFFLINE all the time!! For love of god add a sub menu where all the social nerds can login, but please avoid this first screen login madness....

Garbage App

This is literally the first app I have ever taken the time to review and Im only doing it now to potentially save someone else a future headache. I have been a GoPro advocate since my first Hero 3+, used that a couple of years and upgraded to the Hero 4 Black and talked a lot of friends into buying along the way. With this single update, I now regret ever having done business with this company. I can no longer freely use MY camera as I see fit without being forced to log in and reluctantly have GoPro let me use it in exchange for God only knows what information they want to take at will. This is the single most disgraceful and invasion of privacy feature Ive ever seen forced onto a customer, especially from a company that was once touted as the best action camera money can buy. There is one thing still impressive with GoPro and that would be that they created a market that didnt exist with cutting edge products capable of spanning all cultures who share the commonality of capturing personal memories and utterly destroyed it by listening to investors, marketing teams who want to sell your personal information so they do updates like this requiring login to monitor everything youre doing, and any other money hungry jackholes who would profit off of information after the sell, instead of listening to the people that matter who actually bought and use the product for capturing special moments with friends and family like it was intended to be used when it was first created. Long story short, until the greed stops and GoPro realizes that you cant tie a customers hands after the sale by requiring login to an app for a camera that is made for far away adventures where a connection is not always feasible then I hope you will reconsider buying a GoPro product or if you are downloading this app because you already have bought one, take it back to the store while there is still time.

Login to use app?! Really?!

Cant use this app without logging in. Just bought a Hero 5 Black and gimbal. Will return items just because of this. No wonder GoPro is going downhill. Companies just dont care about customers anymore.

No more 4K downloads from Quik Key

Before the update you could download 4K videos to iPhone via Quik Key. Now it cannot do it! Please fix go pro!

GET RID OF THE LOGIN. PERIOD!

I just entered the GoPro world a couple of weeks ago. Like everyone else, I hated the login for Capture. At least it wasnt logging me out all the time like it did some people. Then February rolled around. All my media, including that saved on the iPhone, was gone. Huh? Aha, Capture updated and logged me out. Despite the claim that I can now operate temporarily without logging in, everything has vanished. So I have to stop and waste a bunch of time with a login (what was the stupid password?) while the light is fading and I need to be shooting. Its cumbersome enough to reach a camera with this app anyway; it takes forever to set up multiple cameras. GoPro, ELIMINATE THE LOGIN ONCE AND FOR ALL. You have no grasp of reality. Were all out trying to shoot, but youre fussing with logins, engineering batteries to fall out of drones, forgetting to check audio on your new flagship camera, tilting horizons on gimbals, and listening to NO ONE. Thats how companies die. Had a look at your stock value lately?

Dont update if you have an older version.

The idea that one MUST have an Internet connection before the App will function is terrible. The older version was quite convenient to use. This version is the pits and I will not be creating an account -- not even to see what it might be capable of. However, it is partially my fault for blindly updating software that I had previously liked. Enough said. Product no longer recommended. Also, read the privacy statement, particularly the part about what happens when GoPro sends you to a 3rd party site that has the same look and feel as the GoPro site.

Never really works. I was gonna get the small gopro with no screen because i thought i would be able to view on my phone. Good thing i got hero5 because this app is a waste of space.

Trouble connecting

I really love this app. But Im having problems trying to connect my hero 5 to the app. I tried so many times reset my connection on the camera. Re downloaded the app 3-4 times and I still dont get a connection. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP. Any other tips PLEASE let me know!

Wifi connection

Using a wifi connection to connect to the camera is probably better quality than Bluetooth, but its very annoying always having to switch back and forth between wifi connections. I have to exit the app, go to settings, connect to the GoPro wifi, go back to the app and start using the camera. Then afterwards, go back to settings and switch back to the internet wifi to do anything else on the phone, then reconnect back to the GoPro wifi to use the app again... Im sure wifi is the best signal, but its annoying switching back and forth.

Required Login Fail

I hadnt used my Hero 4 Black since earlier this summer when it was working flawlessly with the old iPhone app. Yesterday, I attempted to fire up the camera to record my band at a live show. As soon as the new Capture app opened I was greeted by a login screen that I couldnt bypass to control my camera. I didnt have service in the venue and even if I did I was NOT going to sign up for an account just to use a tool that has been intentionaly crippled. Since I rely on the app to make sure framing is solid before starting to shoot, I just gave up and threw it back in my bag. It amazes me that a company whos stock is in free fall would show such disregard for their existing customer base. GoPro, I do NOT want to be FORCED to log into an account that I have no use for to use a tool that previously worked fine. Please do the right thing and update your app to remove this log in requirement. As of right now, I feel like i have a paper weight for a camera. Silver lining: the Garmin Virb Ultra 30 will accept most of my GoPro mounts, so if I have to sell my Hero 4, so be it. A camera is just a tool. When a tool ceases to be usefull, Ill find another one. Id give the current version of the app zero stars if I could. *edit - updated for version 3.2 released on 2017-02-01* Im adding one star as GoPro has created a method of temporarily bypassing the required login for 24 hours when there is no internet available. While I now can control my camera without a GoPro account like I could earlier in 2016, GoPro is still clearly trying to force customers to sign up for an account. GoPro, I will not sign up for an account to use my camera. I never had to with your original app, and I wont now. Listen to your customers who dont have any interest in your cloud services and create an option to permananltly disable the login. I dont care if this means I never have access to any of your cloud services. All I want to do is tether to my camera. The only reason Im adding one star back is I can force the login screen to go away by entering airplane mode, entering the app and then disabling airplane mode. If I have to, I will always use this workaround but I would be much happier if I could PERMANANTLY disable the login.

Still not listening... Dont force me to log in

EVER! The 1 star rating and the stock (GPRO) price are perfectly aligned. Down in the dumps! This company is right for the taking - good product, cocky idiots running it, not listening to its customers. Someone said it best - this smells like Blackberry all over - and by the time they wanted to open it up to everyone, its customers had moved on.

Worst first experience

Have to sign up. Dumb password policy. Finally get account. Pairing took an hour and multiple times. Finally paired, attempted to download video from camera and would start over when about 99% done. Why exactly do people buy this garbage device?

I cannot connect to the PC, I cannot download the videos, theres nothing Ive tried and it worked! Its a pity because the camera itself is amazing but the software sucks badly!
